Mater Christi catholic college of health sciences and technology Igede- Ekiti,  Ekiti state was founded and owned by the Congregation of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ through the instrumentality of Sr. Mary Anselm Nwachukwu the principal of Mater Christi Catholic girls Secondary School Igede -Ekiti and the pioneer provost of the college. The college started with 7 students of Health Information Management in the 2017/2018 academic year this programme was accredited by the official professional board from Abuja and after various inspections of buildings, classrooms, library, recommended staff, and equipment, the school was approved to start. This department has graduated three sets of students.

In 2019, the Medical laboratory science council of Nigeria made an advisory visit to the college, and the necessary recommendations in structures, equipment, and manpower were put in place. In October 2019, the department of Medical laboratory technicians was given accreditation to commence the training of the MLT Programme. The pioneer set are have written their final examination this year in October 2022.

In May 2020, the Community Health Extension Workers management board also made their recommendations which were put in place, and in the same month of May 2020 granted the college accreditation to begin the CHEW cadre, Junior and senior.
